Enhancing traffic safety

The previous European C ITS projects (SCOOP, C Roads, InterCor, InDiD…) enabled the deployment of the first on board units (OBUs) in the operational vehicles of road network managers. The primary objective is to signal the presence and activities of road workers in order to protect them and improve road safety.

The French Ministry of Transport now plans to roll out this equipment across most of its operational and maintenance vehicles, as well as potentially other vehicles likely to stop on the road network.

The contract awarded to the SWARCO CONNECT / INEO INFRACOM consortium, as part of the European SCALE project, includes the supply, commissioning, and maintenance of the on board units in the vehicles. In line with the French Ministry’s ambition to enhance safety for road users and road workers, this new contract foresees the deployment of 2,000 OBUs across the various types of intervention and maintenance vehicles of the 11 Interdepartmental Directorates.

City of Landau in der Pfalz brings traffic management into the future

Unlike many Digital Twin initiatives that remain at the concept or pilot stage, Landau in der Pfalz's solution is live, integrated into daily operations, and actively supporting traffic management decisions.
